Local Community

The Crystal Castle is committed to supporting a multitude of local causes to make the world a better place.

Rainforest Rescue

BayFM

Back in the late 1980’s, local community radio station BayFM was struggling to get off the ground. The Crystal Castle was the largest cash sponsor in BayFM’s first year. Since then BayFM has become Australia’s most awarded community radio station, much loved by locals. The Crystal Castle still supports BayFM by being a major sponsor of their annual membership drive, the Radiothon.

The Fatherhood Project

The Fatherhood Project is dedicated to valuing the experience of fatherhood and building positive community, through enriching the lives of children, fathers and their families. This ground-breaking group, led by Colin George, runs fatherhood programs, sells awareness raising products that nourish and inspire, and hold a major local event each year, the Fatherhood Festival, in Bangalow, on the Father’s Day weekend. The Crystal Castle is a major sponsor of the festival.

Pathways Foundation – Every Child’s Rite

Founded by Dr Arne Rubenstein and Bere over a decade ago, the Pathways Foundation is a local (Mullumbimby-based) national harm prevention charity that assists young people make the fundamental emotional shift from being a child to becoming a young adult. The way we do this is by providing contemporary; community based Rites of Passage for boys 13-15 years old. (Pathways to Manhood) and for girls 12-15 years old. (Pathways into Womanhood).

The Crystal Castle has held various fund-raising events over the years to help raise awareness of their fantastic work, and raise money for running their programs, as well as helping to build a kitchen and meeting place facility on local land where camps are run, in collaboration with a local (anonymous) Men’s Group. One event was MC’d by TV journalist George Negus and incorporated an art auction run by Pathways supporter and Sotheby’s Australia founder Robert Bleakley. Together with a 3 course dinner and live opera singers, the event raised over $ 50,000.00 for Pathways.

Owner Naren King and his son Toby recently went on the Pathways program for 6- 10 year old boys, “Young Stars”, and had a great time connecting by “going bush” for a weekend with 20 other dads and 20 other sons. A fantastic and highly recommended program.
